Observation

Cabinets (cubbies, bookshelves, shelving units) were observed in the hallway and in all classrooms, unsecured to walls posing a tipping hazard. Cabinets were also observe freestanding in the classroom, not secured posing a tipping hazard. Cabinets and shelving units, could be pushed as they have wheels posing a falling hazard. Heavy objects on cabinets in all classrooms, viewed unsecured and poses a falling objects hazard. Strings were observed in accessible to children in the classroom (holding photos or artwork), were observed attached to the wall forming a loop that poses an entanglement/choking hazard for children by forming a loop around a child's neck. Plugs in electrical outlets pose a choking hazard. Tape on bar in 1 preschool classroom bathroom, is peeling and is a choking hazard. Door to washer and dryer room, had a broken lock and was accessible to children, poses an entrapment hazard. Diaper wipes in bags were viewed accessible to children on shelves and pose a suffocation hazard, packaging says keep plastic bags out of reach of children. Wooden door to laundry room, has a hole with sharp edges, posing an entrapment and cutting hazard. Hot food in large insulated container, accessible to children posing a burn hazard. 4 Panel doors in classroom, have broken latches making the doors move and poses a pinching hazard. Phone cord plugged in hanging loose, poses an electrical burn/shock hazard.
